Under The Better Late Than Never Category...

I hate to not keep a promise. Aelfheld, if you're still reading...this one is for you:

He was one of eight. The operative word here being "was." As of last Thursday, he and his companions were shot, beheaded, disemboweled, and headed for the butcher shop. As were their good friends, the steers. This year I was not around for the ceremonies, but I don't imagine Denny has changed his methods much in the last few years.

Finding time to blog has been more than a small chore this summer. Between The Senator getting some needed tutoring and Tae Kwon Do lessons and trying to spend as much time as possible at the cabin, I haven't been in front of the computer much at all. I have, however, been behind the wheel of my car far too often. So much so, that today I couldn't stop thinking what a real luxury it was to ride in a school bus because for once it was someone else who had to worry about getting from A to B. The Senator's Boy Scout troop arranged a field trip to an amusement park. To the fair, James, and take the scenic route.

The amusement park had enough blog fodder to keep me in material for months. I realize that the younger set has boldly decided it is okay for bra straps to not only be visible, but coordinate with the camisole top, but sweet Zeus...it is not okay to show the big, wide, 5-hook bottom band of one's white Platex DD. This, I know. Legislators need to quit worrying about mandatory seat belt laws and banning trans fats and focus.

Well, I guess this about wraps up my July post. I must say I've missed writing. And I felt pretty forlorn reading about the latest MOB gathering which I was unable to attend. Thank you, Mitch, for thinking of me.

See you all in August, if not sooner.

**does the text look irritatingly teeny-tiny on your screen as well? I'm not sure what happened.

No pictures of the little swine in various stages of dismemberment? Quelle horreur! I so enjoy bestowing pet names on their piggy little carcasses; endearments such as Kennedy, Schumer, Pelosi, Reid, etc. ad nauseam.

I have no problem with the text size - perhaps a setting on your machine?

Aelfheld...great to hear from you. Sorry to disappoint on the gore factor. :)

The font is fine from my machine too. Why am I suddenly craving bacon?

Dang! I was hoping that the slaughter was in August when I'm up there!

Eight of 'em? How much meat does your family eat? Yum, of course, but that's a LOT of bacon.

Although we are big fans of the stripy pork...only one dead pig heads to our freezer. Friends and neighbors claim the rest.

What you should have done is just post pictures from last year's slaughter--would anyone have known the difference? How different can a barrel of pig intestines look from year to year.

I remember I had just started blogging and came on your site soon after; the pictures of hogs being butchered is definitely what got me coming back for more.

I'm curious, did you name any of the little porkers Arnold?
