I Need A Ruling

I present the following case for your opinion:

The other day, a beloved individual, who shall remain nameless, presented the boys with two cap guns (each). This individual also gifted the boys with a healthy supply of cap rolls to use in said guns. Today, this generous benefactor sent home additional ammunition. So much ammo, in fact, that I suspect he/she either bulk ordered it on-line or trolled several toy stores to come up with such a large amount.

Exhibit A:

Please note that these are the REMAINING caps.

Given that I am going to be subjected to an incessant POP! POP! POP! POP! for the next week...would it be small-minded to return the Christmas present I purchased for this individual? And would it make a difference if this individual (just for argument's sake) was one's mother-in-law?

No fair, can I come over and play. My wife won't let me play with this kind of stuff in our house.

I figured that cap guns would have been made illegal or something by now. Or, at least the PC police would have banned them from the stores.

I wouldn't do anything about the giver of such a cool present. This person needs to be rewarded. Maybe it's just me reliving playing cops and robbers in the 50's when cap guns were among the quieter and less destructive ways I spent my time. Well away from the house of course.

It's gets a bit tiresome shooting caps one at a time. One way I found to use them up faster is to take a whole roll and put it on the sidewalk and smash it with a hammer. It makes a bigger bang but not that much bigger and each whack uses up a whole roll.

I'm innocent!!! When I asked my lovely daughter (in-law) what her youngest son would like for Christmas she replied "GUNS". My handsome and wise husband of 40 years said "CAP GUNS". So, you see I was set up by 2 of the most important people in my life.

You are aquitted! It is the father-in-law who gets the coal this year.

He he he, I have a picture of me in first grade at Christmas with a Sargent Rock Thompson submachinegun and a huge smile on my face. Maybe that's why I have a small gun collection, shot competetive pistol and am now working in a gun store.

She is just making sure we have some 2A defenders in the future. Next stop bbguns, May I recommend teh Daisy Modek 845 used by the Boy Scouts and ordered directly from Daisy?

I'll be calling on you, Stan, when the boys are of age.

Cathy, I'm disappointed in you. You of all people should understand the importance of impressing a love of guns on all youngsters. This is just one small step and it should be applauded.

We all have to make sacrifices. This is just a small one in the interest of keeping your kids from growing up into a couple tree-hugging hippies.

Since you are obviously not doing the job right, I'm buying them both paintball guns. Don't worry, the paint washes out of clothes and off the walls....usually.

Up in Saint Cloud Cathy at teh small sportsd store across from Home depot.

Seriously I have been a bbgun instructor for 2 years now and taught somewhere between 1500 to 2000 kids how to shoot, if your kids are in Scouts and they have a range night I would try to help, Stearns Boy Scout camp lets you rent their range and guns for $25 if you have a certified instructor.

See yah.

Young Jedi - you stay away from my children. I will NOT risk the exposure.

Stan - thanks for the info. The Senator is involved in Scouts, but I haven't heard about a range night yet. I'll have to ask my husband; he's the den leader. We do have a great program out here at one of the local ranges for teaching kids about gun safety and proper gun-handling, but it might be nice to start with a BB gun first.

Thanks again for the info - next time I'm up in St. Cloud, I'll look you up!

I used to trapshoot not too far from your place with my brother, I think the place you referred to. They used to have either a spring or fall shoot, can't remember when, just remember it was hit and miss on the weather. Had a great pancake breakfast too. Cool place, loved doing it and one of the few things I miss about living up there. Haven't scoped out the ranges here yet but that's on my list of things to do.

I remember when Cathy first started coming to the outpost. The vp & her spent a lot of time at the tin shed firing range. Pretty soon there were a whole bunch of family and friends doing the same thing.
A Sunday afternoon is successful when there are shaving cream cans and eggs being blown up.
Who would have guessed this CITY GIRL could turn into a country Annie Oaklie.

p.s. Bup & I are hoping you know who Annie Oaklie is.

Yep, I sure do know about Annie. You're not that old. I'm not that young. :)
