Behold the Power of TiVo!

Is this the slickest thing ever? I believe so.

The Senator hates missing a second of his favorite show, Tom and Jerry. Whenever I want him to get something done, and I'm too tired to nag and shout, I put on a pre-recorded cartoon and start it running. I let him see just a little bit, and then I tell him it's too bad he can't watch it because there are all kinds of dirty clothes in his bedroom which should be in the laundry room.

"Mom! Can you pause it?! Please!"

Hit the magic yellow pause button, and chores get done faster than ever before.

The only drawback is that you have to use it sparingly. Otherwise you've got a 5 year old who needs to check into rehab for cartoon addiction.

The real (original) Tom and Jerry, or the Hanna-Barbarianised version?

This half hour show seems to have a mix. I've seen some of the oldies, and some of the ridiculous Hanna-Barbara ones as well.

To The Senator, however, all physical humor is good physical humor.

Tom and Jerry wasn't my favorite, that position being permanently granted to the Warner Bros. cartoons (Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies - I'll stop anything if I hear that music). I like the old T&J, but something got lost when they 'modernised' it (making them speak is pure vandalism). I can tolerate most any of the old cartoons (pre-1970's) except for that despicable, mutant rodent from the evil Disney conspiracy (excepting Fantasia, even with Stokowski bludgeoning Bach).

(Oops. Clicked too soon.)

Good for the Senator, though. An appreciation of good cartoons can never start too early.

I miss the smurfs.

Aelfheld, you have taste. I love the old Merry Melodies!

Mrs. Hayden, you do not! Smurfs?! Blasphemy!
